Blog Entry 9: Book Review (Last Blog Entry!)

For your final blog entry, I would like you to post a review of the book "Three Cups of Tea".  What did you like (or dislike) about the book?  What lessons can readers learn?  Who is a good audience for this book?  Please post this entry by Friday, December 9.

Thank you for work on the blogs this semester!  I will be checking them on final exam day (Wednesday, December 14).  If you have completed all 9 blog entries on this date, you will get full marks for this project (10 points).

Blog Entry 8: Holidays

In Canada, we are now entering the holiday season, which mostly refers to Christmas and New Year's, but also includes holidays like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.  The question for this blog entry is: What is your favorite holiday?  Why do you enjoy it?  How do people celebrate this holiday (i.e. special food, drink, music, ceremonies, etc.)?  Please post this entry by Friday, Dec. 2.

Blog Entry 7: Marriage Traditions

For this blog entry, I would like you to find out about an interesting/unusual marriage or wedding tradition from around the world.  What do people do as part of this tradition?  Which country (or countries) practice this tradition?  Why do people do it?  Please post this entry by Friday, November 25.

Blog Entry 6: Opinion

In the unit 6 writing assignment, you have to give your opinion about ecotourism.  For this blog entry, I'd like you to give your opinion about something else.  Please write about a book, movie or TV show you enjoy.  Why do you like it?  What is interesting/funny/exciting (etc.) about it?  Who do you recommend this book/movie/TV show for?  Please post this entry by Friday, November 18.

Blog Entry 5: Travel

Unit 6 in the textbook talks about travel and tourism.  For this blog entry, you are going to write about a unique or interesting tourist destination in your home country.  Describe some details about the place - what can people see or do there?  When is the best time to visit?  Why is it so popular?  Feel free to use lots of adjectives!  *Because of the holiday weekend, please post this entry by Thursday, November 10.*

Blog Entry 4: Languages

Unit 4 also talks about the importance of language and communication.  Besides English, what is another language you'd like to learn?  Why?  What could you do with that other language (travel, work, study, etc)?  Please post this entry by Friday, November 4.

Unit 2 talked about fraud and people losing money, but let's think of something more positive with money!  Imagine that you won $10 million in the lottery.  What would you do with the money?  Would you take a trip around the world...buy a big house...save some of it...or do something else?  Please post this entry by Friday, October 28.

Blog Entry 2: Crime

Unit 2 discusses some kinds of crime such as fraud and identity theft.  This blog entry is going to talk about crime in general.  Do you think Calgary is a safe city?  Is Calgary safer than your hometown?  What kinds of crimes happen in Calgary/your hometown?  Finally, how can you stay safe?  Please post this entry by Friday, October 21.
